1776 Musical Photos & DVD Project

October 27, 2012

This October the Northern Michigan University theatre department put one its first production of the 2012-2013. The musical 1776 was a timely choice given the impending presidential elections. I was fortunate to make some images for The Forest Roberts Theatre where the production was to be playing October 10-13. The Director of the theatre (Ansley Valentine) and Director of the play  (Paul Truckey) permitted me to shoot this modern adaptation of 1776 during the two dress rehearsal prior to opening night. It was a great experience.

Below is one of the image of the entire 1776 cast from the dress rehearsal.

After the shoot I compiled the final 50 images and presented them to Ansley Valentine and Paul Truckey in DVD form. As part of that process used Photoshop to create the art for both the DVD surface and DVD case. You can see DVD surface art below.

In addition to surface art a DVD Case Cover was also designed and produced. See image below:

This was a really great project. I enjoyed all aspects of it. Thank you to The Forest Roberts Theatre and the 1776 production staff for their support. Thank you to Ansley Roberts for permission to reproduce these images.
